Lifesaver Icebreakers

There are times when we get together with our families and friends and we want everybody to have fun other than just lets sit and talk all night long. Is good to have a little bit of excitement.

For this you are going to need:

1.- Divide the people in teams.
2.-One straw for every person participating in the game.
3.-One package of lifesaver for team.

To begin the game. The teams are going to stand up in line and are going to begin to pass one lifesaver to the other member of the team. When the last person of the team has received the lifesaver, this member is going to add on more lifesaver and will return the lifesavers back to the first person.

Every time the life saver arrives to the first and last person, a lifesaver will be added until the complete package of lifesavers has passed through. The first team who completes the package is the winner.

It is a fun, and all ages family game to share a little bit of fun and entertainment.

Dinner Date

I have seen many times in the movies the romantic surprise dinner, and one day I decided that I wanted to live that. So, I prepare myself to organize this event for my husband.

Things to do to make this happen:
  1. I found a picnic table in a park with a beautiful view.
  2. Bought a voucher from a website like Living Social or Groupon for a photography session and set the day and time.
  3. Ordered some of our favorite food in advance for the day off.
  4. Got together a table cover, placemats with napkins, wine glasses, plates, utensils and candles.
  5. Bought wine, sodas, water, ice and a dessert dish.
  6. Wrote a note to my husband letting him know that after his work I was going to wait for him at specific address or place (I made a map for him to follow directions). Also asked to please change to the cloth that it was left in his car before leaving for dinner.
  7. Searched in his closet and put together a complete formal outfit to wear.
  8. Went and put the cloth in his car with the note.
  9. I wanted to see his face when he discovered the cloth and the note. I waited close to his car  and called him to his cell and asked if I left my glasses on his car, because I couldn't find them.
  10. After that I left to get dressed for the occasion and picked up the basket with the drinks and decor that I was going to need for the set up.
  11. Went to pick up the food.
  12. Went to the chosen place and began to set the picnic table.

When my husband saw the note his first thought was that I was going to be in a fancy restaurant. Instead he drove to the middle of nowhere.

He was completely surprised by the idea of being all dressed up for a nice and romantic dinner at the park. Place where we were able to witness a beautiful sunset with a wonderful dinner and better company

Rain of Surprises!

On my husband birthday I wanted to do something different than just the normal gift. I wanted to prolong the emotion and interest on his part, so I came up wit the idea of instead of a single gift, give one present for every hour during the time that he was away working.

I had a lot of fun while searching for simple and practical things that I know he is going to be able to use in one moment or another. The gifts were simple, inexpensive and with a short romantic message.

Before he went to work I gave him a bag with 11 gifts that were previously wrapped . I told him that it was his duty to open a gift every hour.

  • 8:45 am This is the beginning of a day to remember (Inside there was a decorated empty box, it was for him to put inside the remaining gifts of the day).
  • 9:45 am A day without a smile is a wasted day (Inside there was a thong with a smiling face).
  • 10:45 am Every dream requires hard work.
  • 11:45 am  I want you to always find your way home (Inside was a compass).
  • 12:45 am Your essence is my favorite perfume (Inside was a febreze car)
  • 1:45 pm We always find the best way to have fun (Crosswords).

  • 2:45 pm It doesn't matter the barriers you always reach your destiny (I put in a picture frame a map and a key from our home).
  • 3:45pm Up where we belong (Kite)
  • 4:45pm You will always be my hero (Captain america pajama),
  • 5:45pm You are the one who rings my bell (Bike bell).
  • 6:45pm The end of the day it is not the end of the day. Get ready for what's coming ahead. (Inside there was a card letting him know that I was waiting for him at a restaurant where I made reservations).
I bought all the gifts at Walmart,Dollar Tree,Big lotsMichaels

He was very surprised because they were a lot of them. During dinner he told how his day went by and that was fun to open them. It certainly was a day to remember.

Rain of Reasons

I will never forget the expression of my husband when he entered to his office and saw all the messages and the Christmas lights. He was smiling and completely blown away.

This is my version of the 100 hundred reasons to love you.

What to buy:
  1. Three Packages of Foam Shapes, Heart  (Brand "Creatology™ ".Each package contains 35 foam hearts).
  2. One Ball of Yarn (I used white).
  3. One Glue Stick
  4. Visit the avery website to download and personalize the Template for Love Tickets
  5. Christmas lights
  6. Foil Fringe Curtain
  7. One Hole Punch
  8. Tape
  9. Extension cord
You can get this items at Dollar TreeMichaelsParty CityStaples and Big Lots

How to set up:
  • In the top center of all the hearts make a hole.
  • Measure how long do you want  the yarn to hang the hearts from the ceiling. (Make sure it is long enough and close to the face. This way it will be easy to read and his or her neck won't hurt) .
  • Once you have the measure begin to cut 100 strings with the same measurement.
  • Slide the string into the hole punch in the heart and make a  tight knot so it won't be moving.
  • Write down a list of the one hundred reason to love you.
  • Make the necessary modifications to the Avery template and begin to write in each one reason to love you.
  • Print the 100 reasons to love you (You should print 10 pages with a 10 reasons to love you aprox.)
  • Cut the 100 tickets and glue them to the foam shape.
  • Once all the foam shapes have a reason to love you, begin to hang the Christmas lights from the ceiling with the tape in form of waves to cover all the room.
  • Hang all the hearts from the ceiling with tape.
  • Hang the Foil fringe curtain from the top of the door from the room that you are going to decorate.
  • Make sure the room is dark so the Christmas lights will be able to provide the light and the romantic feeling.
  • Prepare a glass of wine and have a seat in the room with nice music while you wait for your loved one to arrive.
  • Make sure to have your camera ready to get a picture of his /her first impression. It will be a moment that you will never forget.
My husband arrived and began to drink the glass of wine that was waiting for him while patiently started to read my 100 reasons to love him.

It was another beautiful moment were we sat and talked for a couple hours about this romantic and simple surprise.

Welcome Home Message Idea

I wanted to surprise my husband with a simple but very special welcome message. I set up the message at the entrance of the house. I wanted him to find it as soon as he got out of the car to get inside the car.

What to buy:
  1.  Three big candles,
  2.  Two bags of stone decorations,
  3.  Roses of different colors.

You can get this items at the Dollar TreeMichaels and Joann

How to set up:
  • Use the stones to form the name and message.
  • Use the rose petals to fill the heart
  • Place the candles to light up the message
  • Make sure the outside lights are turned off, so the candles will illuminate your message.

Hopefully this idea can work for you!.

Good Luck!

Luckiest day of my life!

I truly believe that the day I met my husband it was the luckiest day of my life. And that was the inspiration for me to go out and buy lottery tickets of different kinds and place them in a container

where I wrote the following: "I won the lottery when I met you".

What to buy:

  1. Power Ball, Mega Million and Super Lotto (In my case I decided to buy a line for each year that we have been married with the numbers that are special to us, like our birthdays, and the date we met).
  2.  Five tickets of one dollar.
  3. Two tickets of two dollars.
  4. One ticket of five dollars.
  5. One ticket of ten dollars.
  6. Seven Bamboo Skewers
  7. Tape
  8. Crystal Base
  9. White paper
  10. Floral Foam
You can buy the lotto in any convenience store or your lucky place if you have one. The remaining items you can get them at the Dollar Tree.

How to set up:
  • Distribute the tickets in the bamboo skewers and place them carefully with the tape.
  • In my case I glued a glass in the base that I bought from the dollar store.
  • You can write the message yourself or print it from the computer.
  • Wrap the glass with the paper and hold it with the tape.

This was really fun because afterwards we enjoyed ourselves scratching the tickets together. We didn't win a prize, but we realized that is ok because we love each other.

Give it a try. You may win the lotto, but remember that the best prize is next to you.
